Spencer Lewis

At Advanced Marine, people like Spencer Lewis remind us why experience and passion matter. Since 2006, Spencer has been our Equipment Manager, bringing a unique mix of engineering expertise and a knack for mentoring others. His career journey, spanning continents and industries, is as inspiring as it is impactful.

From New Zealand to Singapore
Spencer was born in New Zealand in 1957 and grew up with a love for all things mechanical. After graduating from Palmerston North Boys’ High School, he pursued an Advanced Trade Certificate in Fitting, Turning, and Machining. This hands-on education shaped his ability to work across engineering disciplines, from machining to fabrication.

In 1987, Spencer moved to Singapore, where he managed workshops for Baker Marine Engineering. Later, he transitioned to the Maldives with Techna Ocean, working as a professional diving instructor and Technical Officer. There, he quickly made an impression—not just for his diving skills but for his attention to equipment care. He once encountered subpar diving equipment, advocated for its replacement, and meticulously maintained it to the highest standards throughout his two-year tenure there.

Joining Advanced Marine
When Spencer joined Advanced Marine, it wasn’t just his engineering background that stood out—it was his ability to inspire others. Founder Jeffery Bradford faced challenges in attracting divers to the vital role of medical lock attendants. Recognizing Spencer’s mix of technical expertise and people skills, Jeff believed he was the right person to engage and mentor divers for these essential roles.

Spencer’s deep knowledge of machining, welding, fitting, painting, and maintenance made him an ideal fit for Advanced Marine’s technical demands. Over the years, his leadership has helped expand the company’s capabilities and enhance its focus on quality. Cylinder maintenance remains one of Spencer’s specialties.

A Lasting Impact
Spencer’s passion for quality and reliability has shaped much of Advanced Marine’s approach to equipment maintenance. He’s not just focused on the technical side—he also understands the importance of working with people, whether it’s mentoring or building trust with clients. His work reflects the kind of care and professionalism that Advanced Marine prides itself on.

Looking Ahead
Spencer’s journey is a testament to how experience, dedication, and a personal touch can transform a workplace. We’re proud to have him on the team, and his contributions continue to strengthen Advanced Marine’s reputation in the industry.
